On Saturday, March 13, 2010, Seattle's St. Patrick's Day Parade travels north on 4th Ave from Jefferson to the reviewing stand at Westlake. Parade closing ceremonies are in Center House at the Seattle Center at approx. 2:30 pm. While all marching groups must pre-register, anybody with an Irish connection (and everybody is Irish on St. Patrick's Day!) is invited to walk in the Parade without any pre-registration. Seniors and others who can't walk the distance are welcome to ride in the "Seniors Shamrock Shuttle” which travels in the Parade's last Division. 2010 Parade Grand Marshal is the Rt. Hon. Desmond Guinness, the great, great, great, great grandson of Arthur Guinness who founded the Guinness Brewery in Dublin over 250 years ago. Desmond is also President of the Irish Georgian Society, the organization dedicated to the preservation of Ireland's historic homes and buildings which he helped found in 1958.
